The Long March is a collection of poetry that refuses the split between the private world of the poet and the world of public affairs. The poems in the book are largely written in a dialogue with the poetry of Ancient China, but they are always sustained by a commitment to radical revaluation which recalls that of the playwright Bertolt Brecht.
