Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Barbara Wharram graduated from Brankstone Hall School; received her A.R.C.T, Solo Performer's piano, from the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto; and graduated from the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto.

After graduation, Mrs. Wharram pursued her studies of all aspects of the theory of music with the late Eric Rollinson.
