From I Didn't Hear a Thing: Once when the Lord spoke to Elijah, the prophet had to wait for awhile and listen very closely, because God did not make himself known in the tumult of the wind, the earthquake or the fire. He spoke in a soft whisper when all was still after the fire. God speaks to us today in many ways, I believe- sometimes in a holy, waiting stillness, but also through the restless, clamoring world that often disturbs our peaceful way of life.
