This book examines the impact of the proliferation and strengthening of regional arrangements in Europe, North America, and the Asia-Pacific region on future economic relations between the United States and the European Union. Miles Kahler challenges the conventional wisdom that the post-Cold War world will be characterized by the return to a more unstable and conflict-prone world of multipolarity. He argues that regionalism need not undermine the transatlantic relationship and recommends several steps to ensure greater economic cooperation between the U.S. and Europe.
