PAMELA LEIS HIGDON has kept birds since 1956. Today she has three parrots, Doodle, Gandalf and Rosebud, as well as a Bouvier that is regularly put in its place by the birds. Pam was the first managing editor of Birds USA and is the author of The Lovebird: An Owner's Guide to a Happy Healthy Pet.
