For more than 20 years, John Axe has written research articles on dolls, teddy bears and other collectibles for various magazines. He is also an award-winning paper doll artist whose work has been used for Convention Souvenirs, as well as having been published in book form.
John is very active with the United Federation of Doll Clubs, Inc. He was the first Chairman of the Modern (Doll) Competitive Exhibit and has been Chairman of Judges (Modern) several times. He is a past editor of Doll News, the journal of UFDC.
In 1990 John was awarded with the Excellence in Research and Writing Award from the International Doll Academy and in 1992 with the UFDC Award of Excellence for Contributions to Doll News.
John also designs teddy bears for Merrythought Limited and in 1989 was awarded with a Golden Teddy Award for his bear Jeremy.
