George C. Rogers, Jr., the preeminent historian of South Carolina, taught history at the University of South Carolina for twenty-eight years. Editor of the multi-volume Papers of Henry Laurens project, he is also the author of Evolution of a Federalist: William Loughton Smith of Charleston, 1758-1812; The History of Georgetown County, South Carolina; A South Carolina Chronology, 1497-1992; and most recently Generations of Lawyers, A History of the South Carolina Bar.

Stated First Edition. Good hardcover in same unclipped dust jacket (in mylar sleeve). DJ is bright with moderate wear incl. edge chipping, tears & stains on rear cover. Hardcover has clean and bright boards with edge & corner bumps & rubbing; foxing on text blocks; two prior owner names & date on front end paper (one covered by front flap); interior pages majority very good and clean except for last 85 pages (out of 685) & rear end papers have water damage with light stains/waviness on top edge (see last photo), no other writing, tears or creases.
