Family life Together on Sundays Family ties are very strong in France. On most Sunday afternoons, relatives gather at a family member's home or at a restaurant to chat and eat a large meal. They greet one another by shaking hands and kissing one another on each cheek. There is plenty of conversation and laughter during the meal, which can last all afternoon.
