The Official John Wayne Reference Book - Softcover

Inhaltsangabe

One of the cinema's greatest stars, John Wayne, born Marion Michael Morrison in 1907, died in 1979. An icon of American individualism and the frontier spirit, the "Big Duke" was able to create compelling characters in films such as "The Searchers" (1956), and gave uncompromisingly hard-edged performances throughout his life. From the "Stagecoach" (1939), which propelled Wayne into the top ranks of box-office stars, through to "The Shootist" (1976), Wayne's final film and best role in his last decade on screen, this book feeds the John Wayne buff with film facts and memorable quotes, and explores, among other subjects, his TV appearances, the actors and directors he most often worked with, and his favourite movie locations. Did you know for instance that Wayne was a compulsive gambler, that he owned shares in Al Capp's comic book publishing company or that his favourite TV show was Hawaii Five-O? This book is packed with crucial facts and includes many rare stills.
