Everyone knows that Katy Perry kissed a girl ? and liked it ? but few know the real story of Katy s rise to pop superstardom, and how success very nearly passed her by. Born to strict religious parents, as a teenager Katy Hudson pursued a career in the Christian music industry, and was subsequently signed ? then dropped ? by three record labels before her breakthrough single, ?I Kissed A Girl , topped charts around the world and made her a star.

Katy s years of struggle and self-belief had paid off. Her multi-platinum album One Of The Boys was followed by the even more successful Teenage Dream, which produced five US Number One singles, including ?California Gurls and ?Firework . Two sell-out world tours, millions of record sales and one troubled marriage (to British comedian Russell Brand) later, Katy is among the most successful female artists on the planet.

Want to know how Katy feels about fame, fortune and her fans? The Katy Perry Album is a glossy visual biography that charts her journey from devout Christian crooner to risqué pop provocateur, showcasing the outrageous stage costumes that have wowed audiences everywhere, and the glamorous red-carpet style that s made her a fixture on the fashion world s best-dressed lists. Illustrated with over 50 full-color photos, it reveals the true stories behind her biggest hits, plenty of backstage gossip, and hints at what s next for Katy. ?I ve lived such a great, fantastic life already, she says, ?but there s still so much more.
