The journey to becoming a successful published writer is a challenging one that requires perseverance, skill and dedication. In examining this process, the authors of this original and timely book seek to provide academic writers with a deeper understanding of their own practice of writing that will help them continually improve throughout their careers. Drawing on insights gleaned from interviews with well-known academic authors working in the area of educational and social research, Passion and Politics examines the following key themes: the journey to becoming a writer; identities; going about writing; producing a text; engaging in the process; the politics of writing for publication; writing, thinking and learning. This book will be indispensable not only for writers and teachers, but also for researchers interested in academic writing and the emerging field of writing for publication.

Críticas

This is an exceptionally interesting book. It comes complete with a detailed overview discussion of eight or so subsidiary themes, and copies of the interview transcripts. It is good to hear about the trials and tribulations, as well as the successes, of such a disparate group of academics. (James Hartley Higher Education Review 2009-06-01)
