Major differences between this and the last editions will be seen. Substantial sections on optical storage systems (videodiscs, CD-ROMs, and so on) have been introduced, and also on remote databases (those on computers at the end of a telephone line, such as BLAISE). The value of bulletin boards will also be introduced. Cataloguing will take account of the latest AACR rules and the various guides now available. The other major change will be to the management section, where the authors address a number of differences that have arisen as a result of new technology; much of the older material has been removed to provide the appropriate space for the new.
