"Game fishing is described by Bill Currie as a sport which can engender the whole range of feelings, running from superb fulfilment to abject despondency. In this book he aims to teach others by communicating his own experiences, involving the reader in his fishing, its logic, its challenges, its successes and its failures. The book is divided into five main sections. The first gives profiles of the game fish and their world, introducing the species for which fishing techniques are detailed in the chapters that follow. The next major section deals with where and how to catch trout, with a thorough examination of the various methods employed. A section on the quest for sea trout follows. Section four is headed 'The Pursuit of Salmon' and, as for the trout, the author deals with all aspects of the sport for this great fish: conditions, fly fishing, spinning, floating lines, natural baits, local tactics, etc. Finally, the author describes the techniques of fishing for other game fish, notably grayling and char. The author's very real enthusiasm for the sport, and for the unspoiled and beautiful countryside in which it is enjoyed, shines through every page of this book."
