Kreml was a motorcycle officer in Evanston who was inspired by a nasty traffic accident to found the Traffic Institute at Northwestern University. Kreml was its Director from 1936 to 1955. He was intensely interested in solving automobile fatalities. Surprise, Surprise, he served in the Transportation section for the War Department as a Lt. Colonel. Post-war he also served as President of the Automobile Manufacturer's Association.
