The landscape of secularization is one that was was once familiar, and yet now appears almost unrecognisable to those who have lived within it all their lives. They and many external observers are saddened by the decline of institutional religion in Britain and cannot clearly discern the full nature of the causes. This text is not a systematic attempt to describe and identify every feature of a fading religious landscape. Instead, it holds to account a number of the fundamental transformations in religious understanding itself, helping the reader to grasp the bigger picture of the decline of the Church in Britain.

About the book >.>.> This new study of secularisation by Edward Norman examines the fading religious landscape in Britain, presenting it not as a systematic analysis but as a reflection on a reality that many may find increasingly unrecognisable. For those who have lived within this landscape, the decline of institutional religion becomes a source of sadness, leaving both long-time observers and external commentators perplexed about the full reasons behind this transformation.Edward Norman, an established author known for works such as Anglican Catechism and Out of the Depths, probes into fundamental shifts in religious understanding, providing insights that help the reader comprehend the broader context of the decline of the Church in Britain. His exploration highlights the complexities surrounding secularisation, addressing the questions that arise for both believers and non-believers in light of changing societal values and beliefs. In engaging with this book, readers are presented with a thoughtful discourse that invites them to consider the implications of a diminishing role for established religions in contemporary society. As part of the Century Theology series, this work aligns with a growing interest in addressing essential concerns regarding faith, belief systems, and their relevance in modern life. Overall, Norman's study offers a nuanced perspective crucial for understanding the changing dynamics of religion and its place?or absence?in contemporary Britain. (LL). Artikel-Nr.
