Langland (sculpture, Indiana U.) explains the steps in creating a bronze cast sculpture. Beginning with selecting the proper materials and building armatures, he discusses such topics as enlarging, alternatives to casting, mounting, and patinas. The major technique presented is lost wax casting, in which a wax model is covered with clay and then fired, thus hardening the clay mold while simultaneously divesting the mold of wax. Annotation c.
