Green cloth boards, with gilt stamped publisher's device on front covers (vols. 1-4) and gilt lettering on spines. This set contains 15 of 17 volumes in the series. Volumes 14 and 17 are missing. The collection contains the complete writings of Browning, including poems and plays, as well as "all prefaces, dedications, and advertisements which Browning wrote for his own works or those of Elizabeth Barrett Browning and others". From the combined library of English professors and scholars Gwin J. Kolb and his son Jack Kolb. All volumes have dust jackets - 5 volumes are still new in the original shrinkwap. Eight of the jackets with some sunning, holes, and/or rippling and soiling to spines due to exposure to water. Bindings with sunning to the spines and along the top edge of of boards of the first four volumes. Top and side edges of some book blocks with some light age toning, spotting, smudging and/or staining. Interiors with the previous owner's name in black marker at the front free endpapers.
