Benedict J. Groeschel, CFR John Henry Cardinal Newman's renowned poem describes the death of an old man and the journey of his soul to the judgment seat of God. James David Earnest is Professor of English Emeritus, Murray State University, Kentucky. Gerard Tracey, who died in 2003, was formerly Lay Archivist of the Birmingham Oratory. He edited volumes 6, 7, and 8 of The Letters and Diaries of John Henry Newman.
Groeschel is professor of pastoral psychology at St. Joseph's Seminary in New York. He is the Director for the Office of Spiritual Development of the archdiocese of New York, he is also a founding member of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. He is the founder of Trinity Retreat, a center of prayer and study for the clergy.
