Buchbeschreibung Zustand: as new. Gainesville, FL.: University Press of Florida, 1993. Orig. cloth binding. xiii,183 pp. - This work examines the complex relationship between two influential modern thinkers, G.W.F. Hegel and Ernst Troeltsch, one of Hegel's interpreters and a figure who has not received the attention he deserves. The author sets out to show that Troeltsch's intellectual career represents both an attempt to distance himself in the name of real history from the Hegelian paradigm of sense-making and a refusal to abandon that paradigm altogether, in spite of his trenchant critique of its ahistorical features. The author finds that Troeltsch's ambivalence toward Hegel reflects a persistant tension in human reflection about time and history between our urge to interpret the entire historical process (and assign meaning to our own lives in relation to it) and our skepticism concerning this very enterprise, based on our appreciation for the way things really are . Yamin suggests the importance of Troeltsch to critical inquiry into religious and cultural values. In the process, he offers a focus and rationale for the current Troeltsch renaissance. Condition : as new copy. ISBN 9780813012445. Keywords : PHILOSOPHY, Hegel, Georg Wilhelm Friedrich (1770-1831). Artikel-Nr. 202615
