First edition and first printing. Hardcover. One of Avedon's best and most cohesive book, a look at "regular" people. Avedon traveled extensively taking a portable studio with him to and photograph his subjects in front of a white background which resulted in stark and striped down images. Features background text by Laura Wilson. A very near fine copy in cloth boards with black and white plates affixed to the front and rear covers and from the library of Lucas Samaras with estate stamp to the front free endpaper and in a very near fine acetate dust jacket.
