Like many of his colleagues, he enjoys showing mothers with children. His is also mankind's oldest theme, the female nude-sitting, standing, or crouching (often with legs spread apart), generally round, even obese, without any particular facial expression. There are few three-dimensional works of his that are serenely serious. As a rule they reveal the wit and humor that he has in abundance, and that he expresses as freely in conversation as in many of his drawings and other works on paper.
