Zustand: Fine in near fine jacket. First printing. First edition of this collaboration between two of the 20th century's most influential fantasy concept designers, a catalogue of faerie types and their histories. Between Brian Froud and Alan Lee, there are four Chelsea Awards, a Hugo, a Kate Greenaway Medal, an Academy Award, and credits in some of the most prominent fantasy films of the last 20 years of the 20th century. Before Froud helmed the concept designs for Jim Henson's LABYRINTH and THE DARK CRYSTAL, and before Lee set the visual atmosphere for the iconic Peter Jackson LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, there was FAERIES, their collaborative title on the natural history of various magical beings. This title demonstrates how strong their artistic styles were, even before they made it big. 12'' x 8.5''. Original cream cloth binding with gilt stamping.
