This book describes the skills needed by anyone beginning work in a library or other information agency, whether at a professional or a paraprofessional level.

Each chapter deals with a section of basic library work and with the knowledge and skills needed to perform it well. Where standard rules exist (i.e. filing rules), explanations are included.
