Robert E. Howard (1906-1936) was an American writer of fantasy, horror, adventure, westerns, historical fiction, and boxing stories, and one of the central figures in the development of modern heroic fantasy. Born in Texas and closely associated with the pulp magazine era, Howard wrote with extraordinary energy across multiple popular genres, but he is best remembered as the creator of Conan the Barbarian.
