The issue looks to the long history and future of southern peoples, and people who traverse southern US geographies, who continue to envision and construct sanctuary in permanence and impermanence.

Annette M. Rodriguez is an Assistant Professor of History at the University of Texas at Austin. Rodriguez has taught at Brown University, the Institute of American Indian Arts, Santa Fe Community College, the University of New Mexico, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
