The author analyzes the experiences of undocumented Latinx parents as they help their children get to college. She discusses different aspects of engagement in children's higher education aspirations and goals, including early schooling and middle school as the foundation of parenting behaviors and college-going plans, and the different sacrifices parents make during these periods; the student search and choice stage in high school and how parents engage in their children's aspirations, the barriers they face, and how they make sense of these experiences and provide support; how parents continue to be engaged in their children's education at the college level, including developing cultural and social capital and connecting with and supporting other parents; how these parents' supportive behaviors are similar and different from white, middle and upper-class, and documented parents and limited by their "illegality"; and recommendations for practice, policy, and future research.
