Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Teun A van Dijk is Professor of Discourse Studies at the University of Amsterdam. Following his work in literary studies, text grammar and the psychology of text comprehension, his resesarch in the 1980s focused on the study of news in the press and the reproduction of racism through various types of discourse. In each of these domains, he has published several books. His present research in `critical′ discourse studies focuses on the relations among power, discourse and ideology. He is founder editor of the international journals TEXT and Discourse & Society, and editor of the four-volume Handbook of Discourse Analysis. He has lectured widely in Europe and North and South America, and was visiting professor at several universities in Latin America.
