Ichiro, Satchel, and the Babe: More Baseball's Fun Facts and Serious Trivia - Softcover

Inhaltsangabe

If you're a fan of the US national pastime, you should love this book compiled by Mike Attiyeh, a semifinalist of the prestigious Society for American Baseball Research (SABR)'s annual trivia contest. This sequel to Attiyeh's "Who Was Traded for Lefty Grove?" provides another collection of over 600 fascinating facts and tantalizing trivia. * Which southpaw retired Babe Ruth in each of their first 11 official at-bats? (If you answered Lefty Grove or any other Hall of Famer, you're wrong.) * Did you know in 1993 the White Sox drafted Carey Schueler, making her the first woman ever chosen in the free agent amateur draft? Challenging, entertaining, stimulating and thorough, the book spans the entire history of the sport, from the game's early years all the way through the record-breaking 2002 season. Some of the questions are tough ones, requiring deduction, reason and a big-picture knowledge of the game, but Attiyeh's often surprising answers inevitably leave the reader fully informed and satisfied. * Which team was originally known as the Atlantics? * Which Hall of Fame second baseman played only one game at that position over his first four major league seasons? * Did you know the New York Yankees have avoided being no-hit for 44 consecutive years, a major-league record? So, whether your home team is 20 games back or on its way to winning the pennant, reach for the trivia book sophisticated enough for players, writers and broadcasters - if you think you're good enough.
