FRONT COVER"Read . . . and morph!"--John OrtbergBACK COVERWhy does authentic spiritual formation elude us?Growing up, Kyle Strobel knew all the "right" answers. The Christianity he experienced in the church was reduced to theological precepts and moral codes. He tried typical spiritual growth formulas, but faith remained stagnant, even stale. Sound familiar? We all need a renewed vision. We need real change.Metamorpha, derived from the ancient Greek word for "transformation," is the term Strobel uses for an intimate journey of spiritual formation through interaction with the Bible, the Holy Spirit, and community. Balanced between emerging and traditional thinking, Metamorphaâ ¢ questions preconceived beliefs and pursues truthâ ¢ seeks to understand the depth of Scriptureâ ¢ fosters an intimate love relationship with Godâ ¢ sees the Holy Spirit as a vital agent of changeâ ¢ values authentic, transparent communityâ ¢ is not a destination, but a journey"What is written within these pages is by far the most important thing followers of Jesus can focus on, both for our own spiritual formation and for the collective health of the church at large. May we really pay attention to the wisdom within."--Dan Kimball, author, The Emerging Church "Kyle deconstructs some of our assumptions about the Bible, God's Spirit, and Christ's community in thought-provoking ways. But he doesn't stop there; he rebuilds a thoroughly biblical understanding that adds rich texture to living conformed to the image of Christ."--John Burke, author, No Perfect People Allowed"Metamorpha is a clarion call to the church to stop and evaluate our bumper-sticker, bullet-pointed, statistics-driven Christianity."--Jonalyn Fincher, cofounder of Soulation; author, Ruby SlippersKyle Strobel is a speaker, writer, and cofounder of Metamorpha.com, an online community for spiritual formation. He is pursuing a PhD in theology at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. For small group and bonus materials, visit www.JesusAsAWayOfLife.com.
