The Peace dollar, issued from 1921 through 1935, commemorated the end of the most traumatic war in human history and has become one of America's most admired and collectible coins. In the newly updated 4th edition of A Guide Book of Peace Dollars, award-winning author Roger W. Burdette delivers the authoritative research, engaging history, and practical guidance collectors have come to expect from the Red Book Series.
Burdette explores the origins of the Peace dollar (including the American Numismatic Association's involvement), the coin's production process, early designs and casts, ways to collect, preservation methods, and the market impact of hoards and meltings. He covers every date and mintmark of America's last 90% silver dollar, as well as the mysterious 1964-D Peace dollar, proofs, patterns, trial pieces, errors and misstrikes, countermarks, die varieties, and even unusual examples from the personal collection of a former Mint director.
