Inhaltsangabe

The Well-Tempered Clavier, BWV 846–893, is Johann Sebastian Bach's collection of 48 preludes and fugues, originially published in two volumes in 1722 and 1742. Exploring all major and minor keys, and utilising a tuning system allowing equal temperament across keys, each volume contains 24 preludes and fugues, serving as pedagogical exercises for keyboard players to master chords, scales, and arpeggios in different keys. Bach's work remains influential for its comprehensive exploration of keyboard technique and musical expression, embodying a pivotal achievement in Baroque solo keyboard literature.
