This Old Guitar - Hardcover

Whether it's accoustic or electric, a Fender, Gibson, or Rickenbacker: whether it's used to play rock or blues or country, the guitar forever changed the American music and pop culture scene. The stories in this book explore first guitars, learning to play, guitar love and lust, oddball guitars, famous guitars that made (or didn't make) history, playing air guitar, the cliches of smashing and burning guitars, and more.

Stories from well-known and respected music journalists and historians, including Michael Wright and Charles Shaar Murray, are accented by quotes from, and snippets about, revered musicians such as Pete Townshend, Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Muddy Waters, Frank Zappa, Eric Clapton, Jerry Garcia, B.B. King, Chuck Berry, Willie Nelson, and more. These stories are complemented by fabulous period artwork and current photographs for a nostalgic look at the guitar's influence both on the stage and off.  These stories are complemented by fabulous period artwork and current photographs for a nostalgic look at the guitar's influence both on the stage and off.
