Entries cover geological formations, populated places, provinces and territories, leading cultural and political figures, political themes, flora and fauna, ethnic groups, artistic endeavors, and topics of particular Canadian character (the voyager, birchbark canoe, ice hockey, Indian art and Inuit sculpture, ice worms, duels, birchbark biting, cemeteries, La Corriveau and Zouaves, etc.) Major subject areas have generally been broken down into several sub-categories entries to meet the varying needs of the reader. They present basic facts, explain central concepts, and describe the subjects in as much detail as possible. They also contain biographies of important people in the field. James H.
