Adult/High School-Young anthropologist Waneta Young finds herself reluctantly drawn into the human-Taelon conflict when she digs up an ancient artifact. The powerful stone also draws her back into her Cherokee heritage, and forces her to find her true path. Though general SF readers might enjoy this well-written tale, it will probably be relished by fans of the television series, whose human and alien characters-particularly Liam Kinkaid, Ronald Sandoval, Da'an, and Zo'or-are beautifully realized and further explored in a depth not possible on the screen.
