Faith Meets World: The Gift and Challenge of Catholic Social Teaching - Softcover

Inhaltsangabe

Faith Meets World: The Gift and Challenge of Catholic Social Teaching assists Catholics and non-Catholics in understanding the basic tenets, principles, and applications of Catholic social teaching. Often referred to as the best-kept secret in Catholic teaching, these principles establish a moral framework that is as ancient as the Scriptures, yet applicable to our contemporary world.

Barry Hudock first explains the biblical themes and church documents that provide the historical foundation and definition for Catholic social teaching. He next takes readers through the basic themes of Catholic social teaching: human dignity, solidarity, human rights, the common good, universal destination of goods, the preferential option for the poor, subsidiarity, and participation. Finally, Hudock encourages readers to take action by living the tenets of Catholic social teaching in their families, work, economy, politics, environment, peace and war, and life and death.

Faith Meets World provides accessible explanations and examples for Catholics and non-Catholics who would like to know more about this aspect of Church teaching.
