A native of California and resident by turns in Ottawa, Amsterdam, Moscow, and (for the past half-decade) Vancouver, Shawn Blore is a newspaper journalist, award-winning magazine writer, and best-selling author of Vancouver: Secrets of the City. Alexandra de Vries took her first intercontinental flight at 6 weeks and developed a taste for travel early on. A resident by turns of Amsterdam and Rio de Janeiro, she has reported on Brazilian culture for Dutch publications, Dutch culture for Brazilian publications, and now (as a resident of Vancouver) West Coast culture and places for Frommer's readers. She also finds time to manage communications for various large B.C. nonprofit organizations.
