The Dark Ferryman is the second novel in The Elven Ways, the fantasy epic that began with The Four Forges. Over the centuries, Kerith has known its share of battles and tragedy. Now, the long-established Vaelinar regime seems about to be overturned. The Ways created by now-forbidden Vaelinar magic are beginning to disintegrate - or perhaps someone has discovered the means to destroy them.
As warrior queen Lariel rallies her forces to prepare for a war she neither wants nor can avoid, an ancient enemy appears on yet another front. As hostilities escalate, and treachery abounds, Rivergrace and Sevryn - forced to follow separate paths in search of their destinies - keep encountering the most mysterious of all the Vaelinar Ways - the Dark Ferryman. And neither knows what payment the Ferryman will demand for the aid being given them.
