Rezensionen

Grade 3-5-An attractive, oversized introduction to the evolution, history, breeds, physical characteristics, behavior, and care of the dog. The book covers a variety of topics ranging from a description of the canine body to a discussion of dogs in mythology, literature, art, and the movies. Each topic is addressed in a double-page spread with one or two paragraphs and descriptive captions providing a brief overview. A discussion on choosing, training, and caring for a dog is also included. A useful spread at the end of the book identifies famous dogs. Full-color and black-and-white photographs, reproductions, and illustrations appear throughout. Both the glossary and index are decorated with humorous drawings. An appealing collection of tidbits that children will enjoy.
