This illustrated book tells the story of the lifestyle revolution in Britain during the 1950s and 1960s. Drawing on material from the ITV series "The Fifties and Sixties in Colour", it provides an insight into an era which changed people's life-patterns irrevocably. Written by producers Steve Humphries and Miriam Akhtar, this book covers a wealth of subjects from the "golden" era of childhood, changing eating and drinking habits, the motoring revolution, the emergence of labour-saving mod-cons and the rising profile of the teenager. Illustrated with over 100 photographs including period adverts and images of products from the time, this book celebrates an era that brought rapid and discernable change in society from rationing to rock 'n' roll and military services to the mini-skirt.
