The Orient Line was once one of the most recognised names operating on the route between Great Britain and Australia, forming an important connection between the many peoples of the Empire. The great vessels of Orient Line included Oronsay, Orsova, Orcades and Oriana. Despite being formed with no mail subsidy and a dominant competitor in P&O, the Orient Line endured. Über die Autorinnen und Autoren
Maritime historians CHRIS FRAME and Rachelle Cross share a passion for passenger ships, ocean liners and cruising, having written 18 maritime history and cruising books as well as countless articles and feature stories for both magazines and newspapers. Both authors have appeared on television news speaking about cruising and maritime history, while Chris has featured as a history expert on TV and radio including the BBC, Sky News, Channel 5 and ABC News and LBC 97.3. Maritime historian RACHELLE CROSS and co-author Chris Frame have long shared a passion for ocean liners and cruise ships. Together they have written many books, articles and feature stories for magazines and newspapers, and appeared on television and radio, including for the BBC, Sky News and ABC.
DOUG CREMER is a P&O and Carnival historian, and, alongside Rob Henderson, is responsible for a significant maritime history archive and large collection of unpublished images. Doug joined the Sydney office of P&O in 1967 before moving to Quantas in the 1970s. Now retired, he lives in Australia.
