Each book in this series looks at one colour in detail, discussing its place in nature, food, festivals, literature and the human environment. The series is cross-curricular and aims to encourage the development of scientific, mathematical and literary skills. This book focuses on the colour red. It shows how many red phenomena in nature are beautiful but dangerous, how the colour is used by man as a symbol to indicate danger and how, although associated with anger and embarrassment, it is also a festive colour. A topic web indicates the relevance of the book to various aspects of the National Curriculum at Key Stage 1, especially to language work, and a project section is also included.
