More sinister and sexual than The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, yet comparable for the insinuations built into its writing style, Cracks is memorable for its finesse and audacity. The injudicious foreplay of teacher favouritism in the hothouse of teenage jealousies bears malignant fruit. Not surprisingly, film rights have been sold.
