A passionate firsthand account of the Yanomami and Kayapó's struggle to survive in their increasingly 'civilised' world, written by a respected academic who has worked with indigenous groups for both Sting and Amnesty International. Linda Rabben interviews celebrated leaders such as Paulinho Payakan and Davi Yanomami; looks at the ways that both groups interact with Brazilian society and the wider world, and considers their differing futures.
