At the heart of KINGS is the simple notion that when Jason and Medea return to Iolkos, after the Quest for the Golden Fleece, Jason offers a marriage gift to Medea: anything she wishes that he can secure within two day's sail of the mainland. Medea has heard of the inventor, Daedalus, on the island of Crete, and his bronze creations. Half seriously she asks for him, so that she can learn from him.
