The New Engineering Contract (NEC) is a modern day family of standard contracts that truly embraces the concept of partnership and encourages employers, designers, contractors and project managers to work together to achieve the client's objectives. Although the ECC can be used as a subcontract, a specific subcontract version has been produced which uses the titles of the parties appropriate to a subcontract, co-ordinates timescales and makes other amendments to recognise the respective obligations.
