Beatrix Potter is one of the world's best-loved children's authors of all time. From her first book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit (1902) she went on to create a series of stories based around animal characters including Mrs Tiggy-winkle, Mr Jeremy Fisher and Tom Kitten. Her humorous, lively tales and beautiful illustrations have become a natural part of childhood.
A source of inspiration was the Lake District where she lived for the last thirty years of her life as a farmer and conservationist.

Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good+. Fine condition; Limited edition boxed set was issued to commemorate the centenary of the first appearance of The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Included are facsimiles of the three stages in the publication of this classic book: (1) the picture letter Beatrix Potter first wrote to Noel Moore in 1893, (2) her own privately-printed volume of 1901 (first printing) , and (3) the original deluxe edition (in yellow cloth) published by Frederick Warne in 1902. An 8 page pamphlet on the history of publication is also included. These items are secured with a decorative ribbon, overlaid with a monogramed tissue guard, and housed in a gilt-decorated blue cloth box with a brass clasp.
