Hardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Good. London. Frederick Warne & Co. Ltd. 1968. Revised Edition. Originally published in 1946. Hard Cover. Green boards with very minor bumping at the spine ends. Condition is near fine. Pictorial clipped dust wrapper which shows some wear ; toned along two corners, a small chip at the spine tail, a closed tear to the spine head and more rubbing along edges. Monochrome photo of biographer to the rear of the jacket. Condition is good plus or very good minus. Black and white frontis of Beatrix Potter. Also 8 colour and 50 black and white plates which are full page and glossy. Although Beatrix Potter is known and loved by generations of children brought up on "Peter Rabbit" and others, her life began in great joylessness and solitude. Drawing was her once fascination and her creative genius was able to flourish in the loneliness and isolation of her early years. Despite the fame that her skill was later to bring, she nevertheless preferred to maintain her privacy and hide behind the persona of a Lakeland farmer. Margaret's Lane biography recounts, with reference to letters and photographs, Beatrix Potter's sad childhood, her struggle for independence, her ill-fated love affair and happy marriage. Despite the faults of the jacket, the title presents well in protective cover and colour illustrations are immaculate. Artikel-Nr. MAY07.22014
