The Liberating Practice of Insight Meditation ‘A book of delicious simplicity and revolutionary wisdom. Some of the clearest teachings on mindfulness.’ Jack Kornfield
Larry Rosenberg, one of the most prominent Buddhist teachers in the West, shows readers how to cultivate tranquillity and deep insight through the full awareness of breathing. He discusses how to use the breath to attain greater awareness of body, mind and feelings and how to bring awareness to daily life. He shows us how freedom from our dissatisfaction can be as near to us as our own breath.
The book also includes a translation of the Buddha’s original teachings on breath, the Anapanasati Sutra. It is the most up-to-date version of this profound, accessible and little known teaching.

Larry Rosenberg is founder and resident teacher of the Cambridge Insight Meditation Center in Massachusetts and a guiding teacher at the Insight Meditation Society. He is one of the most widely respected Buddhist teachers in the West. This is his first book. He travels internationally to teach and will attend a conference in Devon, England in Spring 99.
Freedom from suffering is not only possible, but the means for achieving it is completely within our grasp – literally as near to us as our own breath. In this book, Larry Rosenberg brings this 2,500-year-old practice to life for modern readers. He offers simple, accessible instruction on how to cultivate both tranquillity and deep insight through the full awareness of breathing. With wisdom, compassion and humour he demonstrates how the practice of breath awareness is quietly, profoundly transformative as well as a supremely practical: if you're breathing, you already have everything you need to start.
"Larry Rosenberg beautifully elucidates one of the most important and profound Buddhist teachings in a way that is wonderfully accessible and relevant"
