The characters who live there - Nicky Number, George Guess and Charlie Check, Mr Minus (who runs the take-away shop), Timothy Tens and Ursula Unites help to reinforce and extend skills learned in the "Learn Numbers" book. Number-based skills are central to National Curriculum maths, and should form a part of skills being tested for children aged seven. Special features include: the "Parent point", which is on every spread to explain the purpose of each activity at the point at which the child does the exercise, with lots of ideas for things to do at home to practise maths skills; and the "Skills checklist" is at the back of the book.
