Ron Powell was born and educated in Sydney, Australia. As an architecture student, he worked on the Sydney Opera House. Following further qualifications in landscape architecture, Ron worked on major public open spaces including Sydney's Darling Harbour and Bicentennial Park. He is currently overseeing the conservation of Sydney's 19th century sandstone buildings.
Miles Lewis is an architectural historian with a special interest in the cultural history of building technology, prefabrication, and vernacular architecture. He is an Honorary Life Member of the Comité International d'Architecture Vernaculaire, a Fellow of the International Advisory Council of the Royal Institute of Architects, a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Humanities, a Member of the Order of Australia, and Professor of Architecture at the University of Melbourne. Publications include Victorian Primitive, Don John of Balaclava, The Essential Maldon, Two Hundred Years of Concrete in Australia, Victorian Churches, Melbourne the City's History, Suburban Backlash, and numerous articles and papers on architectural and building history, urban conservation, urban renewal and housing policy, as well as numerous addresses at international conferences on various aspects of architecture.
